Summer Activities for Kids: Kick Balls at Futbol Funatics!

Futbol Funatics

The month of March is almost over (which reminds me, a very belated Happy International Women's Day to all!). For us moms with schoolchildren under our wing, it offers a slight relief from having to wake up very early in the mornings, preparing baon, and paying for tuition fees and school expenses because finally, summer vacation is at hand! Our bodies and our wallets could rest for a couple of months before a brand new school year starts.

In the meantime, families are starting to plan beach holidays or vacations in the provinces, especially for Holy Week. You might also be thinking of signing your children up for summer activities that would keep them happily busy.
There are plenty of these activities around and you can readily choose one that suits your kids' individual interests: it could be the arts (painting, sculpting), music (singing, piano), dancing (ballet, jazz), or acting. Some parents enrol their kids for advanced academic courses to help them excel.

Other parents choose expose their children to sports. Sports activities are said to help boost a child's confidence and teach him the value of sportsmanship. Based on my observation, people who play sports are indeed self-assured and they also tend to be more outgoing. If you want your kids to be sports-oriented, you might want to consider enrolling them into a Futbol Funatics camp.

Why Football?

Unless you no longer watch the evening news, you are probably aware that the national men's team (or the Philippine Azkals) are a hot item today. They rose to popularity when they toppled ASEAN giants Vietnam during the Suzuki Cup in December and have since helped draw attention to the country's glorious past as a football powerhouse, as well as raised interest into the sport. And why not, the sport does not require height (as in basketball). Anyone can play football. It is a beautiful sport that develops skill, grace, speed, and concentration.

About Futbol Funatics

The founders of Futbol Funatics, Avery Del Rosario and Candice Grey, established the clinic in 2003 to share with younger kids (and adults too) their love for football (also known as soccer) and how it has helped shaped them into who they are today. Futbol Funatics have camps available in various locations including Paranaque, Alabang, Makati, the Fort, Pasig, Cavite, and Quezon City.

Boys and girls as young as 3 years old can start training and enjoying this wonderful sport. I learned about Futbol Funatics from one of my Twitter buddies and we both gushed at how cute the age groups are divided into classes:
Beckham Buddies (Age 3 to beginner 6’s)
Messi Magicians (Age 6 to beginner 9’s)
Ronaldo Runners (Age 9 to 13)
Cannavaro Captains (Age 14 to 17)

See full schedules and fees here.

In case you are unaware, David Beckham, Lionel Messi, Ronaldo, and Fabio Cannavaro are some of the most popular football players in the world. But do you know that one of the world's greatest football legends is Filipino? Paulino Alcantara is the all-time highest scorer of one of the top European football clubs, FC Barcelona. (Some even call him a 'myth.' I told you we used to rock the football scene -- that was before we became obsessed with basketball.)
